Our farm, Kanchanjangha Tea Estate, has been growing lemongrass for a very long period. Our tea garden is filled with lemongrass bushes, most of which are planted directly along its boundaries.
To produce our bulk lemongrass, fresh lemongrass stalks are harvested and thoroughly rinsed to remove any impurities. After trimming the tops and roots, the stalks are cut into small pieces. These pieces are then dried either by air drying in a well-ventilated area, oven drying at a low temperature, or using a dehydrator set at 95-115°F (35-46°C). Once fully dried, the lemongrass is stored in airtight containers in a cool, dark place to maintain its flavor and aroma. This meticulous process ensures the lemongrass retains its essential oils, making it ideal for tea.
