Sept 2021
August was exciting for both Nish and me. We were busy getting everything sorted out before he left for the 3 weeks hike. Thanks to the solid foundation that he has built through the years, I am confident that I will be able to hold down the fort for a month without a hiccup. Hope he is having a great time in Idaho. Now moving on to some monthly updates.
Our Tea Bush is in Germany!!
August was also a very honorable moment for Nepal Tea Family and it was hands-down the best gift we have received in the tea world. We had sent tea seeds from our family farm to our dear friends in Germany. Within a year, tea seeds have grown, and the plants have matured well. This is truly an amazing experiment where our clones are testing the soil and climate in Germany! Wouldn’t it be interesting to taste the Nepali clone tea that is being produced in Germany?
What's happening at the farm:
A few months ago, we had sent a proposal for the "Fund for Producer Partners of Forum Fairer Handel" aid. This aid was intended to cushion the impact of the pandemic, help local people invest in equipment for hygiene and infection control, and compensate for crop losses due to the pandemic. Last month, our proposal was accepted and now we are working to implement all the proposed projects. One of the projects was to set up a medical camp for our farmers and people living in the surrounding area of the tea garden. I was updated by my grandfather (he finally got a chance to visit the tea garden after few months of lockdown) that more than 100 farmers and villagers came in for a check-up. We will be having more of these medical camps in the weeks to come.
