Oct 2021

I was in Texas attending one of my friend's wedding and it got very busy. The weather was actually very chill out in Austin and Dallas and we had a great time. Austin was a great city, nothing more notable than the Oasis.

Btw, Nish is back from his trek and he is doing well. As per him, "It was truly a life-changing experience! Being away from the daily humdrum of life and just being present in the deep wilderness changes you in some ways. It was an amazing experience to learn about myself in the presence of the most undervalued teacher there is i.e. nature!" I got a chance to take a look at some of the pictures and hear about the ways they spent their days out there; It sounded amazing.

Last month was a great experience for me as well. Handling each and every aspect of the business was challenging as well as exhilarating. It was great in terms of polishing/developing my leadership skills. We just had added two new team members to the Nepal Tea Team so guiding them was an invaluable experience. I will introduce the two new team members to you in the months to come. The month of September also tested my patience. One of the most awaited shipments for micro-lot teas went missing in the JFK warehouse. I spent almost 30 hours in JFK's warehouse to get everything sorted out. Finally, after 16 days, we were able to recover our shipment. Due to the ongoing logistic problem, all the warehouses are overwhelmed with the amount of cargo that they have.

What's going on with Nepal Tea USA?

We were successful in adding three new farms to the Nepal Tea Family. This was one of the most awaited projects that we were working on. We will now be able to empower more farmers than ever by bringing in these micro lot teas. This was one of the important steps for achieving our goal of impacting 1 million farmers. We will now have teas from some of the best tea makers in Nepal. We will also be hosting a virtual tea tasting session with the tea makers so that they can share their stories of how they got started in the tea industry.

What's going on with our Team in Nepal?

September was a great month for our team in Nepal as well. There were a lot of upgrades in the production facility along with routine medical checkups for all of our farmers. Since the holiday season has started in Nepal, they celebrate Vish-wa-karma Puja in Nepal. All of our offices and production facilities were closed for a day. All of our workers gathered together with their families and installed the colorful pandals for the ceremony. In Nepal, all the craftsmen, carpenters, engineers, mechanics, smiths, welders, factory workers, and industrial workers get united and pray to Lord Vishwakarma during this festival.

Other than that, the production season is coming to an end. The quantity of leaves plucked every week has been gradually decreasing and the dormancy period will soon start. We will be focusing more on the maintenance side of things along with harvesting spices and Yacon. Btw, have you tried Yacon or know about it?
