Jan 2022
Along with the snowy mornings that January brings, there also arrives the cozy feelings and a promise of a new beginning. There’s an effervescent feeling that something bright and shimmering right around the corner is waiting for us. As we wrapped 2021 up, we cannot help but feel as if we too are standing in front of greater things. 2022 is already a whirlwind of temptations – of more work, of more adventures, and of course, more teas. Hope you are starting this year with the same excitement and sense of adventure like we are.
What's happening with Nepal Tea USA?
We want to be more intentional about everything from the way we do business to the way we talk to our customers, our suppliers, and just any facet of work we carry out. With a clear set of frameworks and possible outcomes, we want to be more organized. One of these goals is to convert to a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) to not just claim we are a social enterprise or a company focused on social impact but to really walk the talk. With the conversion to PBC structure, we’ll be setting ourselves to a higher standard to report our work as transparently as possible. We look forward to becoming more accountable and working harder to achieve our goals. We will keep you posted on this throughout the year.
December ended with a terrific piece of news for us. We have always been very fond of having mentors and a support system to help us grow our business. Last year, we applied and interviewed to be part of the Global Good Fund 2022 Cohort. We are grateful to the GGF team that Nish has been selected and will be joining Global Good Fund 2022 Cohort in early January. We are really looking forward to the mentorship and honing in on his leadership to drive more sustainable change and growth for Nepal Tea.
Virtual Tea Tasting Session
As you might know, we have been hosting virtual tea tasting sessions with a producer every month since October. We are more than motivated to continue this throughout 2022 after receiving great feedback from our customers. We would like to invite you to join our Virtual Tea Tasting Session: White Mandala by Sonam Lama. Sonam has been a great mentor and an avid supporter. He is one of our favorite tea people in the world. Sonam calls himself a tea designer and truly appreciates the art of making tea. With decades of experience in tea making, he is one of the most educated tea professionals in the Nepali Tea Industry. We currently have two of his White Teas in our collection and he will be talking about White Mandala in this tea tasting session. We do have limited space for the event, therefore please register here.

What's happening at the farm?
We are on our last stage of Yacon Production at the farm. They will be done with the production by the end of this week. After this, we will be working towards light maintenance of the factory before the 2022 tea production season starts. Also, our team in the garden is working on light pruning of the tea bushes throughout this month. Other than that, our team will be harvesting ginger and Tumeric for the season after a few weeks.

Again, Happy New Year to you and your family and Happy National Hot Tea Month.
