Tulsi tea, also known as holy basil tea, has its origins deeply rooted in the ancient Ayurvedic traditions of India. This herb has been revered for centuries in the Indian subcontinent for its medicinal properties and spiritual significance. Even the name “Tulsi”, means “the incomparable one,” and is considered a sacred plant in Hinduism. Besides being used as a tea, this plant is also used as seasoning for dishes and in the form of tablets for its therapeutic benefits. The unique flavor profiles of Tulsi tea, with its slightly spicy notes and floral aroma, have made it a beloved beverage across the world as a healthy and aromatic herbal infusion.

Holy Basil (Ocimum sanctum)

The production of tulsi tea begins with the meticulous cultivation of the sacred tulsi (holy basil) plant. While there are three main varieties – Rama, Krishna, and Vana, we specifically use the Rama variant for our tea. The vibrant leaves are hand-picked at the optimal time and undergo a carefully monitored drying process that preserves the natural oils and aroma. Once dried, the organic tulsi leaves are gently processed to unlock their full flavor and therapeutic properties. The tea leaves are then meticulously packed to protect their quality.

Kanchanjangha Tea Estate and Research Centre (KTERC) was established in 1984 by Mr. Deepak Prakash Bansktota to improve the economic status of his local community. It is located at the foothills of Mt. Kanchanjangha and is Nepal’s first organic-certified tea garden. The estate is a social enterprise that empowers farmers through a cooperative model, providing them with ownership and benefits such as free housing, education, and subsidies on food supplies. It also supports women’s empowerment and sustainable agriculture practices.

Organic tulsi is the perfect beverage for anyone looking for a soothing, aromatic beverage or seeking a natural way to support their well-being. This herbal infusion has something to offer to everyone. From its calming properties to its potential health benefits, tulsi tea is a delightful choice for tea lovers of all kinds.
