Aug 2022

Mountains are a big part of being born in Nepal, especially the capital city. Hills that could easily fool people into believing they're mountains surround the city and I grew up among this cozy feeling of being cared for by the valley.

As you may already know from Nepal Tea Collective's social media or maybe you heard me scream with joy upon the acceptance email, I was chosen as one of the fellows for the Watson Fellowship. And so, for the entire month of July, I was in Boulder. The mountains and their steady presence calmed me while the company of my enthusiastic fellows kept me energized. It was a great opportunity for me to network, develop my public speaking and leadership qualities during my time in Boulder. Hope you will enjoy some pictures.

What's happening at Nepal Tea Collective?

Nishchal actually went to Nepal with Brooklynn from Cornelia Bean Chris from Starbucks a few months ago. When they visited our tea garden in June, they discovered Nikesh Gurung's latest venture, Reserve Rose Label #157. These leaves caught Gurung’s attention for its unique shape and rare characteristics. The tea leaves Nikesh was playing with was actually a mother bush- Bannockburn mother bush to be specific. Confirmed and encouraged by the tea experts visiting the garden, we were able to make only 8 pounds of this delicately floral tea in our collection.

Come hear the story of discovering the delicious BB 157 cultivar and tasting Rose Label #157. We'll begin with the discovery and settle on the little rosy meadows our cups of Rose Label #157 take us. Link to the event here

What's happening at the farm?

Neekesh and our factory team  are busy with the production. Second Flush started a few months ago and they are working on fulfilling all the orders that they have.

The area near the farm has experienced landslides for a couple of weeks now. It is more than necessary to plant more tea bushes in the area. We successfully planted another 1000 bushes last month. That takes the total to about 2000 for the year.
