Apr 2024

It's been a delightful month for me and Nepal Tea Collective. After a long time, I had the chance to spend an extended period in Nepal. It was a time for team bonding, reflection, and immense gratitude for how much our team has grown. A lot has happened during the month and I am excited to share it with you.

What’s happening at Nepal Tea Collective?

- We are thrilled to announce that our tea bags are now available at Bi-Rite, a prominent supermarket in San Francisco! This is a significant step forward in bringing our tea to a wider audience and increasing the volume of teas that we move from our partner farm. If you know any specialty stores that you think would be a great fit for us any connections would be greatly appreciated.

- Our recent visits to the Chicago Tea Festival and Virginia Tea Festival were a big success. We had the opportunity to connect with our partners and customers face-to-face at these events. It was incredibly rewarding to hear their positive feedback about Nepali teas and see our efforts come to fruition.

We will also be showcasing our products at the Eugene Tea Festival on May 23rd, 2024. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by our booth!

- The second group of this year's tea tours was here, and it was fun to host the Arbor Teas team. They had a fantastic experience learning about the very teas they sell to their customers. I am excited to share a new milestone in this strong partnership as a section of our farm is now named after Arbor Teas, with all production from that plot dedicated to them if they want in the future. You can read more about this exciting development here.

- Our First Flush Black Tea has been a hit with our wholesale partners! They are extremely impressed by its distinct floral taste and greenish-black character. If you would like to offer this unique tea in your store, let me know and I will arrange the same for you.

- After nearly four years, I'll be taking my first vacation to Europe from June 12th to 22nd. I'll be exploring the cities of Lisbon, Madrid, and Paris. If you have any recommendations for must-see tea gardens or shops, please share them!

What's happening at the farm in Nepal?

- The farm is currently in its dormant season following the first flush. Our farmers are busy collecting mature leaves and carefully light pruning the tea bushes to encourage healthy growth. The second flush should start in the next week or so.

- During my last visit to Nepal, I had promised our farmers raincoats and boots to support them in their work. During this visit, we were able to distribute these essential items in collaboration with our family farm. This is on top of the 1% revenue distribution that we do every year and I am proud of all of my team members who helped in making this possible.
- The Yacon production has finally ended for the season and the next production will take place in winter during the tea dormant season. In the last month itself, we have sold about 500 units of these syrups organically. This will definitely help us increase the earnings of the farmers in the long run.
